For the last three years, children, families and neighborhood organizers have rallied together throughout the City of Rochester to raise awareness for safe and accessible play spaces for every child, in every neighborhood. Our city wide coordinated play day PlayROCs your Neighborhood has brought together over 50 neighborhood partners: local churches, libraries, block clubs, neighborhood groups who have all worked together to repurpose, reclaim, and bring back play to their public spaces.

This year, PlayROCs your Neighborhood is BACK and we know it's going to be bigger than ever! On Saturday, July 13th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. we once again are partnering with neighborhoods across the city to advocate for change!

We are thrilled to share that we have nearly 50 different sites participating in the event this year and are in need of volunteers!  If you're interested in volunteering you would not need to be available for the entire event (unless you want to be!), an hour or 2 of your time would be greatly appreciated!

We're recruiting volunteers to help out each of our sites with:

  • Activating their spaces for play (e.g. organizing games, getting kids involved)
  • Capturing photos
  • Sharing about the play days on social media

If you are interested in volunteering please reply to Hannah at Hannah.shippee@commongroundhealth.org or 585-224-3152 by Wednesday, June 19th with the time you could be available and whether or not you have a preference for a specific quad in the City.

On July 9th, Healthi Kids will host a volunteer orientation and event kick off that will go over more logistics of the day and how you can help each site activate their sites. More details to come on that!
