For the last four years, children, families and neighborhood organizers have rallied together throughout the City of Rochester to raise awareness for safe and accessible play spaces for every child, in every neighborhood. Our citywide coordinated play day PlayROCs Your Neighborhood has brought together over 55 neighborhood partners: local churches, libraries, block clubs, neighborhood groups who have all worked together to repurpose, reclaim and bring back play to their public spaces.

The 2019 PlayROCs Your Neighborhood on July 13 was our biggest yet! Thank you to all who partnered with neighborhoods to advocate for change.

Due to the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we made the difficult decision to cancel PlayROCS Your Neighborhood 2020. Promoting the power of play will continue to be a priority for Healthi Kids. We encourage parents and caregivers to try your best to make time for play while the kids are home. In early May, Healthi Kids collaborated with the City of Rochester's Department of Recreation and Youth Services to distribute 900 free play kits that kids can use at home. Another two rounds of kits were distributed in the summer. The #PLAYROCSATHOME challenge was created to remind families about the importance of play during this time. We appreciate everyone who participated in the summer challenge. The #PLAYROCSATHOME - Snow Much Fun Challenge kicks off on February 15 during winter break. Check out some winter play ideas here. Follow Healthi Kids on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to participate in the challenge and for updates on the next round of play kits!
