Healthi Kids Launches FREE Play Day Toolkit
In July, Healthi Kids coordinated a city wide play day with 12 locations across the City of Rochester! Over 1,000 residents (kids, families and adults) got out to play and have fun. You can read more about it in our last blog post here.
To coordinate the day, we pulled together all of the information each organization would need to host their own play day in their neighborhood. From game ideas, to who they needed to contact, safety tips, snack ideas and more. The play day toolkit walked them through how they can throw an amazing event for kids and families of all ages.
The play day toolkit provides a list of contacts across the city for you to host your play day! Including how you can get the City of Rochester Rec on the Move Program, the 5210 Street Team and local mascots to your day.

It also provides over 30 low cost game ideas including pool noodle archery, a giant matching game, creating your own obstacle course, giant jenga and more!

The toolkit also walks you through how to get your City of Rochester permit, who you should call and what forms you need to fill out, and shares some safety tips. From thinking about food safety, to healthy snack ideas, and considerations like a first aid kit or shade. You'll be prepared.
Finally, the toolkit shares how you can get your story out! Write your elected official or invite them to your event, write a letter to the editor in your local paper, or share the event via social media.
The toolkit now, is available for FREE on our website here or by visiting www.playrocs.org and visiting the "Bring Play to your Neighborhood" Tab.
